Expert on my field

Everyone has someone they admire, like a singer, an artist, a friend and we have our owns reasons for do it.

I’m going to talk about a teacher from my university, I don’t admire him, but I respect him as a person and professional in psychology and his work. Andres Antivilo is a psychologist and a statistical from Universidad de Chile.
Since May 1, 2004, he is a part-time academic at the Department of Psychology of the Universidad de Chile. Also in between 2011 and 2016 he collaborated with the Department of Evaluation, Measurement and Educational Registration (DEMRE). In the field of university management, he was Coordinator of Evaluation and Follow-up in Psychology Career.

I need to be honest, I don’t know anything about his personal life and I’ not his close friend, but I love his classes, the contents and the methods that he uses for teach us as clearly as possible.

The reason I mention him is because I think he is a fantastic teacher, he is charismatic with all the students and in the morning he tries to encourage when they feel tired and he always try to do dynamic classes with games in which we can make points for the next evaluation.

I was surprised when he talks about his collaboration in DEMRE and when he explained the system, the reality of the PSU is horrible, he maintains my opinion about the test, it must be removed and put one that correctly measures the abilities of each student.

When I finish the college...

While I’m coursing the career of psychology I always think about what course I would like to do relate with my working line. In the last months I’ve been thinking a lot of possibilities and I think my best option is a course of abilities and tools for therapy and to work with groups of people and where I learn methods to work with different age. In my college the course of social psychology and politics process is perfect for me.

I would like to study the development of society and psychology in Chile but also in other countries that I like as London, Peru, Argentina and United States. I also would like to study something related with resolution of conflicts in adolescents because I think is a elemental stage in our lives.

I want to study in Chile in first place to have a minimal knowledge and then I want to go abroad and learn about others cultures, their developments and how others societies conceive the reality, Chile and south America are not the center of the world and I think there are a lot of knowledge that I ignore now.

Ideally I would like to work 3 years after I finish the college and then I would like travel to another country, preferably to London and take a part-time course in the night, because I would like have a lot of time in the morning to visit their museums, appreciate their music and all their art in general, I would like meet new friends and stay around a year in London. I also would like to learn to play electric guitar and make a band in London after my classes.

My future job

In psychology I have a lot of options to work in the future; literally I have an unlimited field of application, so I can choose my dream work.

In my future work I would wear formal clothes like shirt, tie and elegant shoes. I would like work with a team, because I have a great time discussing and learn new things in my job with my workmates, and I would like have my own office and have long holidays because I always enjoy the summer with my family and friends. I hope to get a job where I don’t have to cope with children and where I don’t have to work on weekends, I don’t mind make a lot of money.

I would like to get a job where I can work outdoors, I hate offices, is necessary for me work outdoors with people. Also, I want to travel around the world as part of my job, I love travel and learn about other countries, obviously always related with my job.

I’m planning to work in a university so I would like work with my university in investigations and seminary.

I’m thinking to do a major in social psychology, because I think is the nearest major to my dream work and my expectations.

If in my work I need to work far from my family I will do it, but probably I would miss them.

Drugs in Chile

Each day drugs are more important for everyone in our society, specially for the youngest, they use drugs for recreational time and for get relax with friends, family or anyone else.

In Chile, the marijuana is the cheaper and most popular drug. Almost every person that I know smoke more marijuana than cigarettes and they prefer marijuana and not alcohol.

I think is marijuana is less dangerous than alcohol, because an accident that involves marijuana is rare, but I always listen about murders and people who die under the effects of alcohol. I don´t know if marijuana is useful for something in specific because I don’t consume and I don’t pay much attention to the news or the newspaper.

Nowadays only the alcohol and the cigarettes are legal in our country, but in recent years there has been a lot of controversy and discussion for make legal the commerce of marijuana, now you can consume but only if you cultivate your own plants.

I think the marijuana should be legal for everyone, because a huge percentage of the people consume and if a law punishes the consume the people will keep use it, is a lifestyle for them.

Nevertheless, I don’t think the experiments with marijuana can leads to experiment with harder drugs, because other drugs are different, the components are different and it means other drugs doesn´t have something useful for testing in animals or us.

Finally, is hard to think all the crimes and assaults are related with drugs in our country, I think is more complex and the crimes will not stop if all of us could consume any drug in the world.

A dream = The best concert in my life

In my life I went a lot of concerts, cumbia, rock, traditional genres; I love the music and the artists. Nevertheless, my favorite concert was Linkin Park, the last year, May 9^th 2017 in the Movistar Arena, Santiago-Chile.

Linkin Park is my favorite alternative rock band. This band appears in 1996-1997 and his name was Xero at the beginning. They are 6 members in the group, two vocalists called Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington. They did a lot of kind of genres like rock, electric rock, pop, metal, nu metal, etc. They had 9 albums, and until last year when Chester committed suicide and the band stopped the tours.

In the concert, the band Rise Against played before Linkin Park. The atmosphere was amazing, a lot of fans sang the songs and yelled. Also, some people did something called ‘’Mosh’’, where they push each other and throw things for the commotion, it was funny.

I felt very happy when they started to sing, I was a little boy again with my friend at that moment, and I think it was an important moment of my life because my dream was saw one concert of my favorite band.

Good days of Childhood

Always when I hear the song ‘’From Yesterday’’ of 30 Seconds to Mars I remember a lot of things of my childhood, the games, the vacations with my family, the laughs and typical conversations with my friends and cousins.

My favorite memory of my childhood is the time spends with my family on the beach. Always on summer vacation my aunts and cousins invited me to the beach, generally Cartagena or San Sebastian, and there we played football, we played cards and we swam in the afternoon after the breakfast because we woke up at the 13 o’clock.

When I was 8 years old after the school I played with my friends a lot of games in the street like football, hide and sike and races of bicycles. Also I played video games with my best friend almost every day and some board games with my parents and my grandmother. Sometimes I draw characters of Mito y Leyendas cards.

I think my childhood was good and unforgettable, I had a lot of friends, I enjoyed my free time with everyone and I could do everything what I wanted.

Find a place

The world is a place with infinite knowledge and possibilities. Since I had memory I like to travel and try to understand the culture of others countries, is interesting how it works the mind of the people and his history. Travel is like a hobby for me.

I would like to visit Peru and iconic places like Machupicchu and Sacred Valley because I want to know the Inca’s culture and when I see pictures I imagine the peace and the spiritual energy in these places.  Also I would love visit Mountain of colors.

This country has exquisite food and exotic traditions as far as I know.  I would eat typical food like ‘’Ají de Gallina’’ and‘’Alpaca a la parrilla’’. This country is famous for the Machupicchu’s citadel and knowledge hidden in the rocks.

I wouldn’t live because the work and the pay for it are low and I’ve heard that the neighborhoods aren’t comfortable. If I go abroad I would like study a semester and learn about psychology and the impact in the population over the years.
